Portrait Sessions
- Q: Does Studio Laura do location shoots?
- A: Yes, there is a standard $25 fee for any location within ½ hour drive of our studio. Please call/email for other location prices.
- Q: How long does a portrait session take?
- A: We usually schedule one hour for each session, although the exact time may vary.
- Q: How many different outfit changes can I bring to my portrait session?
- A: We recommend that you bring about 2 or 3 different outfits to your session
- Q: What should I wear to my portrait session?
- A: Solid colors usually are the best option for portraits. Try to stay away from white – it can be too bright in the pictures sometimes. For family/group portraits, it’s best to have everyone wear similar colors.
- Q: How long does it take for the proofs to come in after the portrait session?
- A: We will usually have your proofs back within a week of the session.
- Q: What are the best times for outdoor portrait sessions?
- A: For outdoor sessions, the lighting is the best in either the morning or the evening. If it is a cloudy day, then an outdoor session could work anytime.
- Q: What if the weather turns bad on the day of my outdoor session?
- A: If the weather is bad on the day of your session, then we will reschedule your session for another day.
- Q: Where do you take outdoor pictures?
- A: We usually take outdoor pictures around the Downtown Calhoun area and at Georgia-Cumberland Academy (about 10 minutes away from our Studio) for no additional charge.
- Q: How many proofs will I get to choose from?
- A: You will have between 20 and 40 proofs to choose from.
- Q: Do I have to pay anything on the day of my session?
- A: No, you will not have to pay anything on the day of the shoot. We ask for an $80 deposit when you pick up the proofs and take them home to view. This $80 will go towards your order when the time comes.
- Q: How far in advance do we need to schedule an appointment?
- A: Usually you can schedule as soon as a week in advance, but during busy times of the year (such as Thanksgiving and Christmas) you may want to schedule around 2-3 in advance.
- Q: Do you allow us to bring pets to a portrait session?
- A: Yes! We allow pets in the studio for portraits. Please let us know when you make your appointment if you want to bring your pet.
- Q: Do you schedule weekend appointments?
- A: Yes, we schedule portrait sessions for Sundays, but not for Saturdays.
Packages and Payments
- Q: What does my $80 deposit go toward?
- A: The $80 deposit you leave allows you to take your proofs out of the studio to view them. However, the deposit does not cover the full cost of the proofs/album, so when you take the proofs out of the studio you do not own them. The deposit is subtracted from the total price when you bring your proofs and album back to make your order.
- Q: What is the sitting fee cost?
- A: If you order one of our packages, then you do not have to pay a sitting fee. If you do not purchase a package, then you will need to pay a sitting fee of $50.
- Q: What kinds of payment are taken?
- A: We take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, as well as cash and checks.
- Q: How long do I have to order?
- A: We allow 2 weeks after you pick up your proofs before we call to remind you to order.
- Q: How much do extra DVD slideshows cost?
- A: The cost is $15 per DVD.
- Q: How long does to take for my order to come in?
- A: We will usually have your order back within one week of when you order.
- Q: Can I keep my proofs/album?
- A: You must purchase your proofs ($80) to keep them. The album is an extra charge: $40 for a 20-pg, $70 for a 36-pg.
- Q: Can I substitute different sizes of prints within a package?
- A: Yes, we can substitute 8x10’s, 5x7’s, 4x6’s, and wallets within a package.
- Q: Can I add extra poses to my package?
- A: Yes, there is a $15 charge for adding a pose to a package.
- Q: Can I buy the rights to my pictures?
- A: Yes, there is a $40 charge for the rights to each picture.
- Q: Can I order online?
- A: We currently cannot take orders online; however, you may view photo galleries online and then make an order over the phone or in our studio.
- Q: Do you offer custom framing?
- A: Yes, we do offer a variety of custom framing options. We have many frame samples in our studio for you to view. Please contact us for sizing/pricing information.
